About getting rid of fleas
Flea infestation
is a common problem that most of the pet owners
have to face. Fleas are annoying parasites
that live and breed on your pet’s body,
suck its blood and gradually lead to anaemia
and even death. The most favourable conditions
for its breeding are warm and humid areas,
so it is best to keep your pets dry as a bone.
Pets like cats and dogs are the main carriers
that bring fleas into your home. Due to the
rapid rate of flea multiplication, they spread
easily into your house and your surroundings.
Therefore the most important thing is to keep
your pets clean, you must bath them at least
every week, brush their hair daily and wash
all the fabrics including their bedding, carpets,
rugs and curtains which they habitually use.
Added ingredients like flea dips, pyrethrins
and linalool can also be helpful in getting
rid of fleas.
Fleas are usually found at the back end of
the pets near the tail area, in the form of
red spots. Because of the irritation, itching,
pain, inflammation and swelling in the affected
area, the pets tend to lick, scratch and bite
it, which only leads to further infection
in the pet’s body. Essential herbal
oils like cedar, lavender, lemon grass, eucalyptus
and citronella can also be applied in order
to relieve the pet to a little extent. Flee
collar emits vapours which are highly poisonous
for fleas, thus it helps in keeping them away,
but wearing a flee collar for a long time
can cause irritation and infection on the
pet’s neck, so you must regularly keep
a check on this.
One of most effective home remedies for fleas
is to regularly vacuum and clean your house.
Do not ignore any corner, crack, basement
or crevice of the home, lawn and garden. Once
you are done, do not forget to remove the
vacuum bag. Keep trees and bushes in your
lawn well-trimmed, so that enough sun light
can enter into it which will prevent the existence
of fleas. It is better to keep your pet away
from other stray animals from which it can
get fleas again.
Foggers are an effective method to treat fleas
in large and open areas as they contain adulticides
which kill fleas. Last but not the least,
you can call a professional person to apply
infra red treatment in your home, so that
you can get rid of fleas in every stage of
their life.
